Those of you who have competed for your country in the IDBF World Nations most recently in Thailand 2023, will have realised there is no breast cancer category at the World Nations with Club Crew World Championships (CCWC) being the highest level at which you can compete.
So, it gives me great excitement to tell you that we have campaigned for the inclusion of a breast cancer category at the IDBF World Nations Championships, Brandenburg, Germany 2025 and this has been approved. This will mean that you can represent your country in a breast cancer paddling category.
More information about this will be in the World Nations bulletin coming out in early December.
Below is the IDBF Resolution that was presented at the IDBF Council meeting on 23/24 November 2024. This resolution passed with an 80% yes vote.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; that the IDBF provisionally allows the inclusion of the Breast Cancer Paddlers National Team Class at the next IDBF World Nations Championship in Brandenburg, Germany in 2025.
This provisional inclusion will enable the IDBF to gather feedback, evaluate the feasibility of permanent inclusion, and support the BCP community in their participation, underlining IDBF’s commitment to providing competitive opportunities for all members.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this new class will adhere to IDBF rules and standards to ensure fair competitive and integration within the championship framework.
