Dragon Boat Training with Deep-dive on Pink Paddling

This year we had another special reason to celebrate. For the tenth time, dragon boat training was held in Dranske on Ruegen island in the Baltic Sea!
It was first held back in 2013. It could not happen one year due to Covid, so now it was the 10th anniversary! So a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Bernd and Ute for organizing this special event again and again!
Meeting in Ruegen feels like a class reunion as many of the approximately 50 paddlers have joined this event several times before. It is always nice to welcome new ones. This year, paddlers from the teams in Bochum, Datteln, Dueren, Hameln, Kassel, Koblenz, Luenen, Witten, and Wolfsburg made this event an amazing experience.
Facing some interesting waves in our first dragon boat session on Thursday, we were very lucky from the weather perspective as the Sea was so calm on Friday and Saturday that fluffy clouds mirrored on the water.
We had fun in the dragon boat sessions, learned a lot about techniques and met for a wonderful dinner in Dronte Bar on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, there have been training sessions on Stand Up Paddleboards and Outrigger Canoes as well as a make-up workshop and a dancing class.
This event has shown that, regardless if in the boat, during spare time, at dinner or at the party, we are a big pink community! And we are strong women! Together with some male supporters 😉.
From my perspective, those three days in Ruegen were very special: it was an impressive, amazing and emotional experience!
