Anna Fumarola is originally from Italy and has been living in several countries such as France, Pakistan, Russia, United Kingdom, and mostly in Spain.
Anna was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. She discovered Dragon Boat by chance in 2022 when she gave it a try and immediately joined Madridragons, the Dragon Boat team of Alberche Kayak Club in Madrid, where there is an amazing group of breast cancer survivors, who encourage and support each other whenever it is necessary.
We are a united team, very much focused on competing in national and international races but also on awareness campaigns about the value of sport as a contribution to a healthy lifestyle for women and specially for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
Within Madridragons BCS she is especially involved with relations and networking with international organisations and teams. She trains with the big and inclusive family of paddlers wherever she is and whenever it is possible, including Italy and in London.
Anna is an expert in international scientific cooperation with a special focus on female postdoctoral researchers from least developed countries as well as from Europe and the United Kingdom. Professionally and personally, she is specially sensitised on breast cancer research and its most accessible and break-through findings.
