News from Sistership, Calgary
Our team had a wonderful moment of reflection today on the water. A wake boat passed by us playing at top volume "Living Next Door to Alice" to which we promptly yelled "Who the F#ck is Alice?!" Memories flooded back from New Zealand.
Our season started with the Festival in New Zealand. We had paddlers from Prince George, Quesnel, Revelstoke, and Kamloops join our Pink Piston Paddlers Team. Despite the races being cut short, we had a wonderful time in a fantastic country.
Our first festival back in Canada was in our hometown of Salmon Arm, BC. We had an inspiring speech by indigenous leader Joyce Kenoras and one of our team founding paddlers Betty Mohninger. Drumming and song by indigenous Tara Willard started our Flower Ceremony.
The next festival was in Vernon BC where we captured the Women's B Final. We will also attend festivals in Kamloops BC then wrap up our season in Penticton.BC.
We look forward to France to see new and old friends.
