Pink Power Kowelenz

Unstoppable this year

Submitted by Katja Stein, Pink Power Kowelenz

Since its establishment in October 2021 the pink team has not only grown in numbers but has also surpassed all expectations. This year has proven very successful with their attendance at three regattas, with two consecutive wins and as a runner up.

As a composite team, a “pink fusion crew“, made up of the Limburger Domdrachen and the Pink Pearls from Heilbronn, managed to reach second place at the dragonboat festival in Hannover with the local team, the Pink Dragonistas, taking first place.

At the Nassauer Dragonboat Event in August, the pink ladies had their first win in a Dragon Boat regatta. As the German Cup was to be held only a week later, this turned out to be an important experience.

The German Cup took place in Datteln and six pink teams took part in the races. The ladies from Koblenz had high expectations and were keen to win again. They came first in all their heats and had enough power left in the A-Final to bring the German cup home to Koblenz.

This couldn‘t have been a better year for this team managed by their coach and helm Martin Jedynak.

The team was also successful in finding new sponsors. They established a training camp at the beginning of May and they supported the Pinktober “Koblenz wird pink“ with a presentation, a newbie paddling session and other promotional activities.

In November the Pinkies will meet with a few other pink teams from Germany for a longer paddle on the river in Koblenz. This will be followed by a party at their training club to celebrate the end of the season and the solidarity within the pink paddling movement.
